The following article, GOP House Leader McCarthy Caught in Lie, He DID Say He Wanted Trump to Resign, was first published on .
Last week, the New York Times excerpted a book that claimed House GOP Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said he wanted Trump to immediately resign from office after the Jan. 6 Capital riot. He quickly called the report a lie. But now audio proves that it is McCarthy who is the liar.
Thursday’s story also contained the claim that McCarthy also said he hoped that MAGA-type voters would be banned from social media.
McCarthy quickly put out a statement calling the paper’s claims fake news:

But only hours later, the reporters responsible for the story pushed out audio of McCarthy saying exactly what they claimed he said.
Rachel Maddow ran the audio on Thursday night in which McCarthy said he would tell Trump he must resign:

The reporters also said that they also have audio of McCarthy attacking MAGA social media users.

So, where did this audio come from? Rep. Matt Gaetz said that it came from outcast Liz Cheney who illegally recorded the call during which McCarthy made his proclamations.

Cheney has denied the claim. She is probably lying. But my suspicions aside, there were several Republicans and their staff members on the call, so many could have done it.
It’s bad enough that he said all that stuff, granted. But the fact that he so strongly condemned the paper and called the reporters a pack of liars is hard to fathom when he knew damn well he said it. AND the fact that they quoted him exactly should have been a big clue to him that they has a recording!
I have to admit, I have never thought much of McCarthy. He’s not much of a thought leader, and his speaking ability is not so great, either.
With this incident, he proves to be a dolt, too.
