Around the world, a wide variety of insinuations are being made in regard to the COVID-19 pandemic, and, specifically, how the omicron variant could affect the coming months.
Winter has been touted as a time in which COVID thrives, largely thanks to the fact that more people will be gathering indoors, breathing the same air as those around them, on account of the cold weather. But this winter has the added challenge of the omicron variant…maybe.
You see, doctors who’ve dealt with omicron have suggested that it’s a fairly mild strain of the virus, while the CDC and WHO continue to sound alarms. Even the normal grouchy Dr. Anthony Fauci has suggested that this new variant isn’t exactly a huge threat.
But now the President is taking the opposite approach…and he’s aiming it directly at the unvaccinated.
President Biden said Thursday that Americans unvaccinated against the coronavirus are facing a winter of “severe illness and death.”
“It’s here now and it’s spreading and it’s going to increase,” the president said about the omicron variant while meeting with his coronavirus response team. “For unvaccinated we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death if you’re unvaccinated for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they will soon overwhelm.”
And then, as if to further chastise those who’ve made personal medical decisions that he doesn’t agree with…
“But, there’s good news,” Biden added. “If you’re vaccinated and have your booster shot you’re protected from severe illness and death.”
The Biden administration hit a wall of vaccine hesitancy early in his first term, as Americans continue to be concerned over the speed at which these inoculations were created, tested, and disseminated.
