In the world of American politics, it often takes a great deal of experience to avoid the common pitfalls of the profession, and Senator Ted Cruz is keenly aware of that fact.
The Texas Congressman is also well versed in the nuances of the crisis at our southern border, having represented a state with more access to the area than any other. That’s why he’s able to see right through the inane and asinine immigration stunts being perpetrated by other members of our legislative body.
Take New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, for example, who was widely lambasted for her previous visit to a southern border detention facility in which photographs showed her dramatically despondent, crying and emoting as she recalled the horrors of the Trump administration’s policies.
Of course, those hours have only intensified under the Biden administration, leading Ted Cruz to wonder why AOC hasn’t been back for another photoshoot?
Republican Sen. Ted Cruz mocked Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her previous visit to a migrant facility, and issued a “simple challenge” to her and her colleagues to visit the “Biden cages” holding migrants amid the border crisis.
Cruz was simply savage.
“Mr. President, every Democrat who stood up and lamented kids in cages, in the House of Representatives, Representative Ocasio-Cortez, has a famous photo of her grasping her head by the kids in cages,” Cruz said as he imitated the photo. “Well, I’m going to give a simple challenge for Representative Ocasio-Cortez and for every Democrat in this body. Go see the Biden cages with your own eyes.”
As of this writing, there appears to be no plan for Ocasio-Cortez to visit the border.
