Former President Donald Trump is facing a number of adversarial issues of late, not the least of which comes from his former hometown of New York City.
Trump, who still believes that the 2020 election was stolen from him, has been dealing with a glut of fallout from that position, which includes banishment from both Facebook and Twitter.
On top of that, the former Commander in Chief is facing a number of investigations, including a rather serious probe in New York that seeks to unravel the minutiae of the Trump Organization’s finances.
That query landed a rather large figurative fish this week.
One of the most senior officials in the Trump Organization has testified before a special grand jury empaneled by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office to hear evidence against former President Donald Trump and his company, sources with direct knowledge of the matter told ABC News.
Jeff McConney is among a number of witnesses that have already appeared before the special grand jury that will decide whether criminal charges are warranted against the former president, his company or any of its employees, the sources said.
McConney, who serves as a senior vice president and controller for the Trump Organization, is the first employee of the former president’s company called to testify, the sources said, and his testimony is a sign that prosecutors have burrowed deep into the company’s finances.
The news comes just months after investigators were also allowed access to Donald Trump’s tax returns, marking a major shift in the adjudication of such requests.
