The following article, The Demand for Equity: The Latest Scam From the Left — An Opinion Piece, was first published on Flag And Cross.
My generation of Americans was taught that we should aim for equality. Equal treatment under the law. Equality of opportunity. A colorblind society. That’s what Martin Luther King preached—judge people based on their character, not on their skin color, religion, gender, or national origin. Well guess what—things have changed. Now the “woke” crowd says the hell with equality, what we really need is equity.
What is equity? The objective of equity is not equality of opportunity, but rather equality of outcome. Everyone should have the same income, job success, house, neighborhood, etc. In an equitable world, equal justice under the law is anathema. The law must treat people differently. We must give minorities, especially blacks, special treatment in order to even up the scales and compensate for past injustices. Equity means affirmative action in employment and college admissions. Equity in housing and neighborhoods. Equity in compensation. Equity in film casting—starting next year, a movie that doesn’t have at least 50 percent minorities in cast and crew is not eligible for an Academy Award.
The latest example of equity is the demand that first dibs on the COVID vaccine should go to “people of color,” and definitely not to Caucasians. The science tells us that older people should get the vaccine first because they are the most vulnerable, but no, equity says that blacks don’t have equal access to healthcare so they should get the vaccine first. In other words, skin color—not science—should determine how healthcare is apportioned.
I googled equity. Here is what it said: equality achieves fairness through treating everyone the same regardless of need, while equity achieves this through treating people differently dependent on need. That is a lie. Equity has nothing to do with need. Equity attempts to achieve its concept of fairness by treating people differently based on their skin color. For equity to be achieved, skin color must determine everything. The right kind of skin color is black and brown. White is the wrong color. In case you didn’t know, that’s what your kids are being taught in public schools and elite universities like Harvard, Yale, and Stanford. Yes, that’s what the next generation of Americans is learning.
The problem with equality of outcome is that it can never be accomplished without control by a coercive centralized authority. “A free society will not be one of equality,” said James Peron, author of Exploding Population Myths. “Even if we were able to distribute all wealth equally, once the heavy hand of centralized control was removed, inequality would immediately result. The destruction of freedom is the only method for implementing equality of results.”
Equity brings with it two dubious travel companions: critical race theory and cancel culture. Both would have been right at home in Nazi Germany. Critical race theory categorizes you as either oppressor or oppressed based on your race, gender, or sexual orientation. To accept critical race theory, one must acknowledge the existence of systemic racism and white privilege. If you question either of them, it proves you are a racist. “That notion reflects the true nature of all leftist ideology by being ultimately authoritarian in nature,” writes Eleanor Krasne in heritage.org. “You either agree with the left’s worldview or you are an enemy of all that is good.”
You can see how equity and critical race theory go hand in hand. Anyone who attended college during or after the 1960s, says Krasne, has been sucked into this web of deceit. If you refuse to buy in, you automatically become fodder for the cancel culture. The New York Post has described cancel culture as “the phenomenon of promoting the banishing of people, brands and even shows and movies due to what some consider to be offensive or problematic remarks or ideologies.” No one is immune. Even someone as successful as Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has been subject to the cancel culture for allegedly making anti-trans comments. If Rowling can be cancelled, so can you. Rowling is in a much better position to cope than the average person, who is at risk of losing his job and reputation.
Critical race theory is unapologetically anti-white. The campaign for equity has spawned an inquisition against white people. Never in my wildest dreams did I foresee this. An example is provided courtesy of the City of Seattle, which has inaugurated a segregated training session for white city employees to train them to “undo their whiteness” and affirm their “complicity in racism.” Can you imagine if Seattle required all black employees to undo their blackness? Students in schools across the country, reports the Tucker Carlson Live on Fox News, are being coerced to confess that they are flawed if they happen to be white. “Being white carries so much of a social stigma that it results in job discrimination and more. Today, to be white is to be evil,” writes Robert Spencer in PJMedia.
Are you ready to apologize for your skin color and surrender everything you’ve worked for to other people based solely on their skin color? You better…or else the cancel culture will be coming for you.
