The following article, USA Teams Asking Olympic Committee for One Year Delay of Games Due to COVID-19, was first published on Flag And Cross.
Even though the Summer Olympics are scheduled to begin until July 24 in Tokyo, there’s a decent chance the event is likely to be canceled. As it stands today, basketball, baseball, soccer, and numerous other sports remain on an indefinite hiatus.
With gyms and facilities shuttered all over the nation (and the world), it becomes harder and harder for athletes to train. Who knows what shape some NBA players might be in when the association finally gets back on the court.
Now, USA Swimming and Track & Field are asking for a one year delaying to the games. As of March 22, there are no plans to cancel.
From Daily Wire:
On Friday, CEO of U.S.A Track and Field (USATF) Max Siegel sent a letter to the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, asking for the 2020 Olympics be postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
In the letter from USATF, Siegel writes that the organization’s “top priority has been, and will continue to be, the health and safety of our athletes, coaches, staff, and volunteer leaders.”

The problem isn't the economy.
The problem is the coronavirus.
To slow its spread, the economy must be shut down.
People must stay home.
But they need income assistance to pay their bills.
Hospitals need adequate supplies.
This is what Congress should be working on.
