After their brief reemergence onto the international scene, many hoped that North Korea would finally be moving away from some of their more authoritarian ideals. That is certainly not the case, however.
Donald Trump was the first US President in decades to even attempt any sort of diplomacy with the tyrannical regime, led by dictator Kim Jong Un, due to the hermit kingdom’s incessant and purely evil ways. Not only does the tiny nation deprive its own people of the very necessities of life, but they have done so in an isolationist fashion that has brainwashed the masses into believing the the Kim dynasty is compromised of demigods capable of impossible feats.
And let’s not forget about the concentration camps, of which American Otto Warmbier was a victim.
Still, President Trump held out hope for a unified Korean Peninsula and an amicable relationship with the North Korean leader. This all stalled after Trump and Kim ended their latest nuclear summit in a stalemate.
Now, as a stark reminder of the evils of North Korea, the failed summit has resulted in the death of a DPRK diplomat.
North Korea executed its special nuclear envoy to the United States as part of a purge of senior officials over the failed summit between leader Kim Jong Un and President Donald Trump, South Korea’s Chosun Ilbo newspaper claimed Friday.
Kim Hyok Chol was executed by firing squad in March along with four other foreign ministry officials, the paper reported, citing an unidentified North Korean source.
Some are warning that this news should be taken with a grain of salt, however.
North Korea neither confirmed nor denied the report. South Korea’s government was not able to confirm the claim. Previous media reports about the fate of North Korean officials who have fallen afoul of Pyongyang’s leader have proven to be false.
Weeks ago, and after the failed summit, North Korea again launched several missiles in “testing” – a ruse that many believe was simply a way to once again garner international attention for the struggling nation.
