With 2020 fast approaching, the left side of the aisle is desperately scurrying around, looking for some “cool points”…and it has been hilarious.
One of the most egregious and tone-deaf instances of this came to us from Kamala Harris, an already declared 2020 candidate for President, who recently attempted to look “hip” by talking about smoking marijuana and listening to Tupac and Snoop Dogg in college.
The only problem was that Harris had long graduated college before either of these gentlemen had released any music. To top it all of, Harris committed this pop culture sin during Black History Month.
Now, in an effort to avoid similar missteps, one of the oldest white men to ever find himself in the Executive Branch is getting lessons in “cool” from the folks in Silicon Valley, presumably to launch yet another campaign for the Oval Office.
Former Vice President Joe Biden has been receiving regular briefings from executives at digital and social media companies in order to learn strategies for appealing to young voters if he were to run for president again.
Biden has gotten advice from an executive at Twitter, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter who would not disclose the executive’s name.
“We work with elected officials, candidates and former politicians regularly when it comes to them getting the most out of Twitter,” a spokesman for the company told CNBC. This person would not directly comment on Biden.
Biden, who is 76 years old, has long been chastised as a bit of a fuddy-duddy, especially after being in such close proximity to Barack Obama over the course of the last decade.
Should Biden choose to run, he will almost certainly face President Donald Trump who, at a spry 72 years old, is one of the most enigmatic users of Twitter that ever existed.
