Lie to Congress, get in trouble.
That’s not generally the case, especially when it comes to famous politicians.
Now, Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz (FL) has introduced a new bill to go after the likes of twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and former FBI Director James Comey.
From Daily Caller:
Pretty much everyone is in Comey’s warpath…
Comey: “So another day of Hillary Clinton’s emails and the Steele dossier. This while the President of the United States is lying about the FBI, attacking the FBI and attacking the rule of law in this country. How does that make any sense at all?”
“Republicans used to understand that the actions of a president matter, the words of a president matter, the rule of law matters, and the truth matters. Where are those Republicans today?”
“At some point, someone has to stand up and in the face of fear of Fox News, fear of their base, fear of mean tweets. Stand up for the values of this country and not slink away into retirement but stand up and speak the truth.”
“This is not about Republicans and Democrats, this is about ‘what does it mean to be an American?'” What are the things that we care about? Above our policy disputes, which are important, there’s a set of values that represent the glue of this country and they are under attack … ”
“We have to stop being numb to it, whether you’re a Republican or Democrat, you need to stand on your feet, overcome your shame and say something. People who know better, including Republican members of this body, have to have the courage to stand up and speak the truth, not be cowed by mean tweets or fear of their base. There is a truth and they’re not telling it. Their silence is shameful.”

Is it possible for a person to not know/recall/remember the answer to 245 questions when confronted by a body of Congress?
Seems a little odd.
Comey must have a terrible memory.
– Said “I don’t remember” 71 times.
– Said “I don’t know” 166 times.
– Said “I don’t recall” 8 times.https://t.co/BjcueUYTsv

"After a full day of questioning, two things are clear to me. One, we could have done this in open setting, and two, when you read the transcript you will see that we're talking again about Hillary Clinton's e-mails for heaven's sakes," says ex-FBI director @Comey on Capitol Hill pic.twitter.com/uN5ZAHFOIT

From AP News:
Two GOP-led committees brought Comey in as they sought to wrap up a yearlong investigation into the department’s decisions in 2016. Republicans argue that department officials were biased against Donald Trump as they started an investigation into his campaign’s ties to Russia and cleared Democrat Hillary Clinton in the probe into her email use. Comey was in charge of both investigations.
Democrats have said the investigations by the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform committees are merely a way to distract from and undermine special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe. Mueller took over the department’s investigation when he was appointed in May 2017.
Clinton wiped clean 30,000-plus emails while secretary of state from a private server.
Comey has been caught doing the same thing. Comey, of course, was fired by President Trump.
From Daily Wire:
Disgraced former FBI Director James Comey used a private email account hundreds of times to conduct government business — “and at least seven of those messages were deemed so sensitive by the Justice Department that they declined to release them,” the New York Post reports.
Like Hillary Clinton, whom Comey decided had broken no laws when she used her own homegrown server and email to send and receive classified information, Comey said he used the Gmail account only for “incidental” purposes.
But the Justice Department said that Comey and his chief of staff “discussed government business on about 1,200 pages of messages, 156 of which were obtained by The Post.”
