Nancy Pelosi and the mainstream media were up in arms after President Trump canceled the speaker’s trip abroad.
Heck, a Pelosi spokesman even suggested that 45 put Pelosi’s life in danger because he announced that she’d have to fly private if she still wanted to go (more on that below).
The California liberal must not have remembered that there’s a partial government shutdown taking place at the moment.
If workers can’t get paid, Nancy shouldn’t be allowed to fly on the taxpayers’ dime. That should be common sense.
As it turns out, Pelosi has an extensive history of abusing military travel paid for by the American people.
From Daily Caller:
Pelosi’s trip to Italy and Ukraine from July 30 to Aug. 6, 2015, cost the Air Force $184,587.81, according to documents released Saturday under a 2015 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit by Judicial Watch. Her delegation was made up of nine other members of Congress, including Democratic Reps. Anna Eshoo of California and Marcia Fudge of Ohio.
Four family members, including Pelosi’s husband Paul Pelosi, were on the trip. The delegation dined at restaurants including James Beard American Restaurant in Milan, where a five-course meal cost up to $190, according to Fine Dining Lovers. The lawmakers also toured the Vatican and met up with Italian dignitaries, including President Sergio Mattarella and then-Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, according to their itinerary.
More from Judicial Watch:
In response to a series of requests for military aircraft, one Defense Department official wrote, “Any chance of politely querying [Pelosi’s team] if they really intend to do all of these or are they just picking every weekend?…[T]here’s no need to block every weekend ‘just in case’…” The email also notes that Pelosi’s office had, “a history of canceling many of their past requests.”
One DOD official complained about the “hidden costs” associated with the speaker’s last minute changes and cancellations. “We have…folks prepping the jets and crews driving in (not a short drive for some), cooking meals and preflighting the jets etc.”
Top shelf liquor, huh?
Check out this video on Pelosi’s travel from 2009:
Drew Hammill, Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff, implies that President Trump is putting Pelosi and other Democrats in danger.
Hammill should apologize for being such a fear-mongering zealot.
On Thursday, Trump sent a letter to Pelosi informing her that he cancelled her upcoming trip to Europe and the Middle East.
Trump told Pelosi that she could not use military aircraft — which are funded by taxpayers — but could still make the trip if she wanted to fly commercial on her own dime.

The United States Congress is a co-equal branch of government in our system of checks and balances. The Congress has a constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight in the war zone where our men and women in uniform are risking their lives every day.

After President Trump revoked the use of military aircraft to travel to Afghanistan, the delegation was prepared to fly commercially to proceed with this vital trip to meet with our commanders and troops on the front lines.

In the middle of the night, State Dept's Diplomatic Security Service provided an updated threat assessment detailing that the President announcing this sensitive travel had significantly increased danger to the delegation & to troops, security, & other officials supporting trip.

This morning, we learned that the Administration had leaked the commercial travel plans as well.

In light of the grave threats caused by the President’s action, the delegation has decided to postpone the trip so as not to further endanger our troops and security personnel, or the other travelers on the flights.

Whether here or abroad, the Speaker always thanks our troops, diplomats and intelligence community for their heroism & service. The Speaker commends her colleagues on the delegation, who personally & officially have dedicated their lives to protect & defend the American people.

Pelosi was planning to head to Belgium, Egypt, and Afghanistan on the taxpayers’ dime – as one does when elected to public office.
Her bags were all packed. She was ready to go.
Then, President Trump said no dice.
If Nancy wants to fly overseas to bash America she’ll have to fly private.

What happened next?
Pelosi’s luggage was sent back to her office!
From Free Beacon:
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s luggage has been returned to the halls of congress by cart, according to a picture sent to the Washington Free Beacon by a snap-happy tipster.

The border wall is a “luxury” that America “can’t afford.”
Speaker Nancy Pelosi must really hate her country to say something this asinine.
Turning to the wall, Pelosi said, “It’s a luxury our country can’t afford under any circumstance. This is certainly a luxury we can’t afford when he has shut down government, takes pride in it and says months or years.”
